Indications

It is important to note that the procedure for and indications differ between defibrillation and cardioversion

Defibrillation (Unsynchronized cardioversion)

• Ventricular fibrillation
• Pulseless ventricular tachycardia
• Polymorphic ventricular tachycardia

Synchronized Cardioversion

• Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
• Atrial fibrillation
• Atrial flutter
• Ventricular tachycardia with a pulse
